How to save money

"I earn a decent salary, where does it all go?" I think at the end of each month. I read read and read about how to make money, now I read about how to save money too, and start to do this.

1. Record incomes for every dollar. This should include salary, raises and any tax refunds.

2. Using cash more than credit cards. I save transaction fees and interest of credit cards.

3. Record spending for every dollar. This include hobbies, dining out, books, car payments, auto insurance, groceries and salon services .

4. Control spending, Here are a few I to get started. Eat out less, I try eating in more often and packing a lunch for eating at work and at school for kids. Besides saving money, making my own food can often be healthier too. Buy used books or e-books, save more buy new books or hardcopy.

Creating a budget may not sound like the most exciting thing in the world to do, but the end result will be able to show where your money is coming from, how much is there and where it is all going. Here are some tips on how to create your own home budget.

1. Record all of your sources of income, and your monthly spending. Try to record for every dollar spent, for the next month or two, think very closely about how your money is spent, write down a list of all the expected expenses you plan on incurring over the course of a month. This includes a mortgage payment, car payments, auto insurance, groceries, salon, eating out, entertainment, dry cleaning, auto insurance, retirement or college savings and essentially everything you spend.

2. Now it's time to create your current family or personal budget. To do this, start by downloading or use free online personal budget, if you use the Excel spreadsheet you'll have to know how to use Excel well enough to tweak the formulas yourself, (If you would like to use a professional budget software package please click here 1o free household budget spreadsheets. Here are some good and free budgeting spreadsheets Personally.

About free budgeting spreadsheets, each one of the sheets are designed to be used with Excel, but will more than likely work if you use OpenOffice (basically a free version of Microsoft Office). Some may also work with Google Docs, I had used with some of my imports into Google Docs.

3. Review and revise your budget monthly.
After the first month compare the actual expenses versus what you had created in the budget. It is a real eye-opener! Many of us spend or idea where our money goes. If you are showing a higher expense column than income it means some changes will have to be made.

Creating a budget, you'll find that you'll be able to manage your money.
